well, this was an interesting one. this was for a review of a show i went to with a friend of mine. the review turned out fine, and i was psyched to get to the illustrating (aka fun part), and i was mostly excited to try out this idea i'd had for a while of building up an image in layers using construction paper cut-outs. it was a fun idea, and i think someday i might try it again, but i'll admit i was a bit underwhelmed with the end result. meh, you live and learn and all that. i was originally planning on doing 4 more of these, featuring the opening acts too, but goddamn doing pictures this way takes a long time (just ask any kindergartner). oh well. next time, protomen.

WE WILL BUILD HEROES...out of construction paper

things to do volume two: the rhyming

time for more post-it portraits, ya'll. so, a big point of these was experimenting, and me teaching myself the language of inking and how to use different techniques for different purposes. i've been learning, but not as much as i'd like, so look for these to start getting weirder as i try new stuff out. weirder, and probably bad (sorry nester; i'll try yours again, promise). BUT HEY THAT'S CALLED LEARNING RIGHT? RIGHT. here we have a few more of my friends, plus a mayan. can you figure out which is which?

things to do with notes that tell you things to do

so i have a lot of wall space in my new place, and i wanted to fill it with pictures of folks i like, but unfortunately i don't have a lot of photos. so what's a girl to do? what anyone else would do: grab a stack of post-its and the inkwell and quill pens you keep by your bed (next to the machete) and get to work! these are the first few i've managed to sit down and do. the goal with these is two-fold: fill up my wall with things that make me happy, and practice. i've been a bit lax about it, but i'm gonna start doing one a day, so be sure and check back often, because if i like you, odds are you'll end up here sooner or later. see you soon, kiddos
